Dear Friends,

It is very unfortunate, but as a result of my raw materials price increases, I am forced to have a 10% across-the-board price increase on my guitars. The cost of lacquer is up 100% over the last couple years due to the price of cotton going up. Yes, cotton is used in the production of lacquer! Shipping costs have risen due to fuel costs going up. Wood has gone up considerably....especially ebony. Pickups have gone up....magnets are very costly. I am sure most of you realize all of this, but I just wanted to give a few examples.

I will honor any quotes I have given up to 3/1/11. After this date, all of my models will sell for list price and I will be unable to extend any discounts except to my dealers. Dealers will still receive their discounts based on the new list prices.

If you are on the fence, now is the time to order your new "Schaefer"!!! I am backed up about six months at this time.

I am very sorry for the news, however, we all have to eat! I am not getting rich building guitars....it is a work of love. I want to keep building guitars as long as I can walk to the bench!! I hope everyone understands. Blessings to all!! Ed

Schaefer Guitars

Welcome to Schaefer Custom Guitars! I've been handcrafting guitars since the early 1970's. As a small family-run shop, I focus on the customer's needs from the musician / player's point of view, and every detail from nut width to choice of wood involves the customer's input.

Each "model" is only a starting place for the ultimate design of each instrument. Standard construction features include: select aged tone woods, hand-carved, tap tuned top and back, and a high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

(See The Models for more details.)
